This is How We Do It
I've slowly started to form a small little clique of my own here..me, tassy, and my friend paul (who is from Milwaukee) Last night Tassy and I went to this amazing Macrobiotic Japanese restaurant, Souen Restaurant 28 E. 13th St. I know about by Union Square. It is sort of like a Japanese hippy place, with tons of plants, and really cool people working, it's always packed...the place is beautiful, and the food is fairly cheap. I had spicy tuna rools and tea (the rolls were made with brown rice) Tassy had squash, and tofu saute with peanut sauce. For dessert we had this amazing black seasame tofu moose...OH MY GOD! And we had a bread pudding with tofu whipped cream, and fresh blueberry sauce...everything at this place is out of this world...made with organic ingredients. They have amazing variations on tofu, and most things are wheat free.
I called Paul and asked if he was in the city, he said he was in Union Square...two blocks away from the restaurant. We met in union square and watched a christian group sing songs about the lord in a circle...they were amzing just clapping and singing at the top of their lungs, I really started to feel them.
We headed to the Williamburg Bridge from Union Square and walked across (I've never walked across that bridge before, there is something really "Batman the movie" about it)...then we walked home from there...all the way back to Greenpoint
On the way home with tassy (Paul had left towards Bushwick) we walked down Lorimer past this Latino guy who was pissing right there out in the open...he was probably younger than us, and his friend was standing on the other side of the sidewalk...and while he was pissing, he looked at us, and said "yeah girls, this is how we do it!"
....and continued to say shit to us until we couldn't hear him anymore. Then, while I was walking a huge rat jumped out of a trash can right by my hand, and I freaked out and ran, which caused tassy to run...
and she said "Why are we running?"
I said, "I saw a rat by my hand" and we stopped running and laughed.
We walked through Mcarren Park and then on down Manhattan Ave...walked right into the Eat Records guy that had broken up with Tassy about 4 days earlier. The eat records guy was walking hand in hand with his ex-girlfriend. (We call her big boobs).
He pretended like he didn't see Tassy and walked past us, but Tassy turned around and yelled his name out. He stopped in his tracks, turned, and we continued to walk.
Tassy was pretty bumbed after that, and I just kept telling her not to think about it. I dropped her off at Kent and Manhattan, and headed to home sweet home, across the street from the cabby chop shop, inhaling the fumes from the BQE and the Pulaski Bridge.
Tonight I'm going to go see the two girls "Christy and Emily" play at Pete's Candy Store. I love that place, and they are a really good band! you can check their music out @ http://www.myspace.com/christyandemily
